About DWRTC
The Decentralized Wastewater Resource & Training Center (DWRTC) is a hub for workforce development, educational resources, and technical assistance to support sustainable water & wastewater solutions in Hawai‘i. Through training programs, funding opportunities, resources and career pathways, DWRTC equips individuals and communities with the tools needed to improve water quality and solve wastewater challenges.
Our Goals:
Train & Support a Skilled Workforce: Providing education, and career development advice in wastewater and water management specifically relating to Hawai‘i.
Expand Access to Resources: Offering educational materials, funding opportunity resources, and regulatory guidance for wastewater infrastructure.
Promote Sustainable Water Solutions: Supporting Hawai‘i’s transition to modern, decentralized wastewater treatment and water systems.

Help Strengthen Hawaiʻi’s Water & Wastewater Workforce!
W4W is a pre-apprenticeship course, thanks to funding from the EPA Innovative Water Workforce grant, we are expanding the program to facilitate on-the-job training (OJT) for graduates. Participants will receive career services and stipends to support their transition into related OJT placements after graduating from the W4W course. We’re seeking new wastewater organizations and community partners to connect with and improve our Work-4-Water program! Interested in partnering with Work-4-Water or want more information?
